How to wash

White shirts as both daily and festive piece of clothing has become ingrained in women’s wardrobe. The variety of modern styles allows using them in the most varied combinations: from classical business suits to democratic jeans and shorts. To ensure that shirts retain their original shape and color for a long time, and prevent collars and cuffs from looking shabby, it is very important to look after them properly and wash them in accordance with recommendations.

To prevent damaging the item or spoiling it, it is important to know some of the features and strictly observe all the recommendations listed on the label. This refers to the choice of:

  • temperature range;
  • type of washing: automatic or manual;
  • way of drying.

If you follow recommendations properly this will significantly increase the period of wearing the shirt and help you keep its original look for a long time.

It is very important when washing white shirts to take into account the temperature mode indicated on the label of the item. In any case, it should not exceed 40° C. For most types of shirts the optimum temperature is 30° C.

With a higher temperature mode, the risk of textile deformation and changes in its structure is very likely. Cuffs and collars can lose their shape.

If you wash a white shirt at the temperature exceeding 40° C, it will lose its whiteness, acquire a gray tint, and look washed out.

If there is no wash icon on the label, you should pay attention to the fabric type. This will allow you to set the correct parameters on the washing machine or properly wash it by hand:

  • Cotton. Both automatic and manual washing are allowed. The shirt can shrink about 5% of its original size.
  • Silk. Only hand wash without pre-soaking. Maximum temperature should not be above 30° C.
  • Artificial fabrics (viscose, modal, etc.). Hand wash in cool water is preferable. Shrinkage can be up to 7%.
  • Synthetic (elastane, lycra, polyamide, dacron, etc.). The shirt can be washed in a washing machine by setting the temperature mode to 40° C.
